With less than 12 hours to prepare, I found out that a quick trip I had planned for my husband and kids was also going to include me. I had no time to plan healthy snacks for the road, look up points for various restaurants, or get mentally ready for the challenges I was going to be facing. I am not even going to mention the love I have for a couple of very specific meals in this region. Very quickly, I became overwhelmed and gave myself permission to take a break, it is only two days.
So the first stop on the way out of town was to get my favorite two-ton apple fritter that I have avoided for months. I literally had two bites of my previously favorite breakfast, lunch, or late night snack. It rode next to me in the car barely touched for hours as my stomach began to growl, and there was literally NO desire to touch it. That is no small victory, and I intend to celebrate the fact that I am making life-long changes.
That is not to say that there haven’t been challenges today, and my eyes are still to big for my stomach; but I know that I am heading in the right direction now. Maybe when I sit down to my heaping pile of sweet potato pancakes in the morning, their spell will also be broken. If not, I will enjoy them until they aren’t enjoyable anymore and I will give myself permission to do so.
Happy Mamavation Monday!!!

Sounds like a fun trip! Enjoy it and don’t fixate too much on food. Sometimes it is important to let yourself enjoy it, just do it in moderation. I personally don’t do well with taboo foods though, so I try to take a small amount and either give away or throw out the rest. (before I can shove it all into my mouth! Lol)
As you are traveling, be sure to get some short bursts of exercise in and stretch. Even a few minute thrown in is better than nothing. Have a great week and a great trip! Best of luck with the food temptations. Sounds like you are headed in the right direction.

I love that! Life long changes are the way to go and we often don’t even realize we are making them until we are faced with temptation… or in your case, the lack thereof! WTG!
